Pharmacy Practice

About the Department

The department of Pharmacy Practice is an academic department within Hindu College of Pharmacy. Our approved hospital for imparting training to Pharm.D students is St.Joseph’s Hospital located 1 kilometer away from the college within the municipal limits of the Guntur. Dr.Mannava Radhakrishna Murthy, M.D., Physician, Dr.Kam Prasad, M.S., Surgeon, Dr.Annie,M.S., Gynecologist, Dr.Raghava Rao, M.D., Chest Physician, Dr. Siva Rama Krishna, M.D., Nephrologists are the teaching faculty for our Pharm.D students within the hospital. The department’s director is Sri P. Seetharamaiah, M.Pharm. (Ph.D), who has worked as Chief Pharmacist in All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and consultant, Drug & Pharmacy Service of Shere Kashmiri Institute of Medical Sciences, Srinagar (J & K). The focus of the department of Pharmacy Practice is on creating through Research & Dissemination of New Scientific Knowledge about effective, safe & economical use of meditations in the society. Our contribution to research, teaching, service both in Urban & Rural settings have earned us reputation of being leaders in this field.

Pharmacy practice department in the St.Joseph’s Hospital is facilitated with:

  • Library with good collection of books.
  • Access to online journal and offline journals.
  • Lecture hall for case discussion with audio visual facilities and LCD projector, Faculty Room.
  • Computers with internet facility.
  • Drug information services are provided to Physicians, Nurses, Pharmacists, students and other health care professionals.
  • Conducting health & blood donation camps.
  • Health awareness programs in and around Guntur.
  • Free health camps and counseling on their regular activities and diet modifications.

    About the Course & Objectives

    Members of the department continue exemplary service to the following activities:

  • raining Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D students), under graduate and graduate students and practicing pharmacists to become nationally and internationally for their knowledge and competence in practice, research and education. 
  • Creating through research & disseminating in the biomedical literature, new scientific knowledge about effective, safe and economical use of meditations with intension of improving rational use of drugs.
  • Developing, evaluating and disseminating innovative educational methods for educating pharmacist leaders of the future.
  • Advocating professional roles for pharmacist on local, national and international levels.
  • Collaborating with other health science professionals in teaching, service and research activities.
  • Advancing the profession of pharmacy through activities in professional societies.
  • Sharing our expertise to facilitate advancement of global pharmacy education, practice and research through collaborative programs.
  • Creating entrepreneur opportunities that advance pharmacy practice and further the professional and financial interest of the department, college.
